Does kitty ever wonder
about our little cries
hello kitty
hi kitty
going to work now kitty guard the house?

Now, she says
or less obviously
prrt or mew or yowww.
I wonder what she means
or if she means at all.

I know she’s just marking me
when she butts and rubs her head
but it seems like affection
as if she likes me.
She lets me pretend that she does.

 At night, finally, when all is dark and quiet
she lies on my desk right beside me
sleeping with her head on the phone.
Does she like it when I rub her head and smooth her fur
or is she just paying for the food?
